I have a Late 2011 13" MacBook Pro that chimes when started, appears to boot into something but the screen doesn't turn on. No flicker - nothing. The laptop was damaged - looks like it was dropped several times. There was what appeared to be liquid stains on the outer shell. I tore the entire machine apart and cleaned it thoroughly. I took the screen completely apart and straightened out the aluminum cover getting it back to the shape its supposed to be and reconstructed the screen - cleaning as I went. The video cable had what looked like a burned out contact so I ordered a new one. After reassembled, I tested the screen on another similar MacBook Pro (mid 2012 13") and it worked. No flaws.

After fully cleaning the parts of the Late 2011, I reassembled and once finished, I turned it back on. It chimed but still no video.

Initially, the logic board looks good - no burn marks. Below is pictures of the video cable and the contact on the logic board.

What should I check and diagnose?

Some more pictures. I cleaned the logic board more thoroughly and took the following pictures. It looks like what ever caused the short blew a few prongs to the display cable. The contacts look like they are melted off the board. At this point, this looks like a loss. I am assuming this is not fixable.

I got a thunderbolt mini display to HDMI adapter and I get video on an external monitor. Was able to run High Sierra on a flash drive. Found out it’s a Mid 2012.

I did a diagnostic and got a VDF001 - display error.

Looks like it’s the connector.
