Late 2011 MBP and 24" ACD; Black Screen

Hi. I bought a low-end 15" MBP on Monday - the 2.2GHz version - and from the start the ACD I had connected to it would intermittently go black for 2 seconds before coming back on. I gather there were similar issues in the Mid 2010 MBPs. I took it in to the Genius bar and they suggested a replacement, which I took, but it had the same problem. I've just returned it, and I'm looking at my options. One is to get a Feb 2011 high-end MBP, which is comparable in spec but a bit more expensive.

What I'd like to know is, has anyone used a 24" ACD with one of the new MBPs and not had this issue, meaning I was just unlucky and should try again? Also, has anyone used the Feb 2011 2.2GHz MBP with that display and not had the problem?

Apple released an EFI update that resolved this flickering issue for many people.

I ran that on both computers, with and without the screen connected. Still the same. Maybe that's the answer: get the early 2011 and install the firmware update...
