I replaced the battery in my Late 2012 13' MacBook Pro Retina and all worked fine for awhile, until macOS update. Now the battery won't charge when the MacBook is closed or in sleep mode. It will only charge when it is OPEN and the system is turned on.

Battery was bought on Amazon and of an aftermarket variety.

I have done the SMC reset, cleaned the MagSafe contacts and nothing changed.

Did I get a bad battery with faulty circuit board or missed some settings after the update?

Help, Please.

Try your old battery. If it charges when closed or in sleep mode, it is the new battery.

If you don't have these old battery, return or exchanges it.
