I'm looking for an adapter for my late 2012 27" iMac to upgrade my network. My network has 2.5 GbE 802.3bz master switch with 2 CAT6 runs to my office. I was planning on one run connecting to my office switch and was thinking of connecting the second run directly to my iMac with an adapter to support 2.5 or 5 Gb ethernet.

Does anyone know if my iMac has Thunderbolt 1, 2, or 3? I'm thinking it's v1 but not sure.

Is anyone aware of a USB3.0 adapter for either 2.5/5/10G or an SFP+ adapter (I can pull a fiber optic run to my office, but would involve more work).

Found this with a quick search:

It not too expensive, and compatible with your Mac.

I am unsure, but I wouldn't think you would have issues getting 2.5Gbps link speed over your Mac's USB3.2 Gen1 ports.
