I have a choice between the two for about equal price. Geek bench multicore score for the 2013 (ME874LL/A) is 13969 vs the 2014 at 13602, and all the scores shown on everyman are higher than the 2014. Based on Geekbench alone the 2013 is the winner. Is there anything else I should consider? The architecture is the same for both as far as I can tell.

Using the computer for 96k multitrack audio production and editing huge (1GB) photoshop files.

Thanks, I didn't realize that it was quieter or had faster storage.

They're pretty much identical. I concur with @Naimfan to get the 2014 model, the newer model. Synthetic benchmark numbers is not real world performance.
