Whats up guys,

Just downloaded my Gopro 4K Hero9 footage and cannot view it at all. Just stutters and chops every other second.

My MacBook Pro Specs:

2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Unsure if there is a workaround? Or preference setting I'm not using. Any help would be appreciated!

If the video is encoded in h265 then this MacBook model doesn't have the capabilities to decode it in real time. Post 2018 MacBooks have the T2 chip that does that. Best you can do is to convert it, either to in Prores or h264, in 4k or at a lower resolution.

Not using any editing software like final cut. Using the GO-PRO "QUICK" desktop app.

How do I know if its encoded in h265?

thanks guys appreciate your replies

select a clip and press cmd+i. It should say on the more info section the type of encoding. If its HEVC (aka h265) then you have to convert it.

Ok thanks for this! Just checked, and yes "Codecs: Timecode, AAC, HEVC ....

Sry for the noob questions - but by "converting" - does that mean no longer 4k? Or...?

And what would I be converting it to? and using what?
