Has anyone experienced incessant clicking on their built-in mic? Almost every time I join a google hangouts or skype call (about once per day) the people on the other end complain that there's a ton of clicking noise coming from my end. Sure enough, if I pop open the sound preferences pane and click the input tab, I can see erratic things going on with the input level graph. The only way I've found to fix it is to restart the computer.
