What is the difference between these both? Also is the Late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro (256) better in terms of speed to the Mid 2014 128 version?
2014 is 10x as fast, half the weight, and runs one month on battery.
Seriously: the CPU is a little faster in 2014 (0.2 ghz). The SSD is probably a bit faster too, but nothing you would notice in everyday usage.
First time Mac buyer here.
Should I wait for Black Friday or is this as close for the price?
Base Late 2013 13 MacBook Pro 256, 8 gigs of Ram for only $1,149 (No Taxes, and Free Shipping)
I think it's a pretty solid deal, especially without tax.
Will BF deals be any cheaper? Probably not, but you never know.
Speed difference on cpu's is negligible.
BUT you may be able to tell a decided advantage with the 256 gb on the 2013 vs the 128 gb on the newer model. The 256 is probably a samsung, and the 128 is most likely a toshiba.
On the 2014 Macbook Air, Macworld noticed the 128 gb was noticeably slower than on the 2013 model. It's speculated that the newer machine had a toshiba drive, which is markedly slower than the samsung.
I also think BB also released details of it's black friday sale already. They may be having a 2013 13" retina with 8gb of ram and a 512 gb ssd for $1350. Look it up just to make sure. (And if they have a better deal, you'll be within the 14 day return window. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!)
I wouldn't consider a 2014 over the 2013 unless it had at least a 256 gb drive.
Good luck!
Thats a good deal but then you remember BB sales tax.
Plus I have 500 GB Windows Computer and don't even use 100 gigs of it. I really just hope it is still in stock by tomorrow.
I hope so, too. Just got the same computer used off of craigslist (3 months old, with sales receipt to prove it) for $950 (also with no sales tax), and I'm loving it as my travel system.
I'm a little worried about the screen size deduction compared to my 21.5 computer. How is Yosemite performing on it? Does it have any lag?
