Interesting change. Used to be that if I had it set to automatically turn on everyday in the morning, when not plugged it, full battery, it would go to sleep if I do not log on. Now the MBP just turns off and doesn't stay on sleep mode. I think Apple changed it to prevent battery drain if the user forgets or decides not to log on while on battery source.
Which is great since I've forgotten a few times and when I logged on my battery was about 50% or close to dead at times.
It does behave normally if I keep it plugged in.
