Late2009 iMac with 2012 Mini

Greetings, all.

I ordered a 2012 Mini Server about 10 minutes ago.

I want to use my Late2009 iMac as the monitor. Can anyone give me a definitive answer on what cable to use?

I have seen HDMI-MiniDisplayPort, Thunderbolt-MiniDisplayPort, etc.

I need to order something ASAP.

You just need a mini-DP to mini-DP cable.

But, target display mode isn't a good idea. You iMac will run headless while you're using its display and you cannot turn your CPU, hard drive, etc. off.
