My 2020 MBPro 13" 2.3 GHz / 16 GB / 1 TB laptop has Catalina 10.15.7.

The OS has been very stable. I am not planning to upgrade to Big Sur until at least .5 release. Far too many reported issues.

System Update reported that new updates are available: latest Catalina security updates and Safari.

The security updates started and then suddenly reported an error indicating the update could not complete. No specific error message; literally nothing. I tried again. Same problem. On the 4th attempt, it seemed to work.

During the very next night, the laptop restarted "your computer was restarted due to error". No problems for 2 days so far.

Very strange.

Having been in the software business for a long time, I sense that Apple software needs a lot more attention from quality engineering team.

They haven't been so good since Avie Tevanian left the company, but that's one opinion. They don't seem to test as much as they should.

How has the latest supplemental update gone for you? There seemed to be another firmware update.
