I've only recently started shopping for a 17" MBP. I would love to get it refurb to save some $$, but if I have to, I can afford to buy it new.

How easy is it to get the latest and greatest generation of 17" MBP's refurbished? If I have to wait a month and they disappear as soon as they show up, I'll just eat the cost for a new one. However, if they show up once a week or so, then I can wait. I know it all depends on what's being sent back to Apple, but does anyone know any guesstimations?

No way of knowing when it will show up. I'd say we are a month off. If you are in the U.S. and a student you can make up the difference by registering for the ADC.

Just keep checking back. Either it is there or it isn't. Apple doesn't want to stock refurbs.

With the latest gen 17", your better off buying it new until you have a lot of time and patience on your hands currently.

to be honest, just get the previous gen refurb. you are paying close to $300 just for a .14 GHz and 160GB increase... Everything else is exactly the same, making the current refurb 17" probably the most economical mac ever.. (value/money)

Won't be too long before they show up. Maybe a month or so. But there likely won't
be that many at first, so don't hesitate to pull the trigger.
