Much of the criticism of iLife08 appears to lie in changes to the iMovie application; complaints that it was "dumbed down" to the level of those wishing to edit video from capacity-limited sources, like mobile phones et-al.
I've been on the lookout for a hopefully dumbed-down application to edit mpeg2/4/h.264 video without the need to re-purpose it to DV first.
Am I to understand that the current iMovie is just such a beast and that I can edit directly in these compressed formats, and are there any decent shareware alternatives (I've heard of Norrkross Movie but never tried it) better suited to my limited abilities?
