Had latest iPadOS Public Beta (I can't keep track, whatever was current as of 3/13/25, maybe 18.3 Beta?) on my 2023 iPP and went to erase it to give away. The process was a little abnormal and wonky (did not act normal) and had to try it a couple of times. One of the questions was something like "delete eSIM"? I said yes... Well, I went to reactivate the iPad and it would just hang on Quick Setup for hours. Brought to Genius Bar and they reloaded iOS, etc to no avail. They ran diagnostics and found that the eSim had been "disabled" with no way to enable it since we could not activate the iPad. He essentially said sorry about that, have a nice day, and next time buy Apple Care.

So an expensive 12.9" M3 iPad, 1 TB, Verizon is dead just like that with no help from Apple. Goes along side my two-year old MacBook Pro that died without cause after two years. Any ideas on the iPP before I relegate to my pile of dead Apple devices?

Ok, apparently Apple's Genius Bar is becoming as rotten as some other things at Apple. They wanted me to recycle then and there.... But all I had to do was go home, back up an iPad to my Mac, then restore that iPad to the "dead" iPad. All is fine now. I need to go back to the "Genius" Bar and nicely tell them how wrong they were. Now the next big question: How do I untangle myself from the Apple universe? :) I feel like I am on the proverbial Apple Titanic with Apple slipping so much on software, products, AI, smarts, etc.

You joined Beta software programme. Apple Store has no responsibility to solve a beta software issue. The FAQ says:
If you need further assistance, please note that you must restore to previously-released software prior to contacting AppleCare.

Don’t use pre release test versions if you don’t want to deal with issues.

Yeah, your're right. "Issues" like a clueless Genius Bar. Consistent with Apple's slow (but accelerating) demise. I've been an Apple guy since iPad 1 and iPhone 1, and makes me sad to see what Cook has done to Jobs' work.

Good thing that you managed to solve the issue, if you have the time and as a Beta tester report it to Apple so that they can adress the issue and hopefully fix the bug.
I always hold beta-testers high as they contribute to stable releases for us "regular" users to enjoy.
