Hi All

Quick question. I'm looking to get a new Macbook Pro tonight ... 15'' ... I am torn between 256 or 512 GB ... I am edging towards 256 at the minute as I think if I use my external hard drive more then I should be able to manage 256 but my main question is:

Can these new Macbook Pros' SSDs be upgraded in future, e.g., I buy 256 now and later upgrade to 512 if I feel I need it??

I'm looking to buy tonight so some quick advice would be great.

Many thanks :)

Technically they can (but this voids your warranty) however you can't buy them anywhere except second hand, pulled from other macs, on ebay and they are very expensive to the point where you might as well order what you want from apple in the first place. So in reality no you can't.

I also have the same dilemma as you. And I ended up with the 512gb.
You can upgrade to 512 gb at later time, but the cost alone would set you almost $400 pulled from another mbp.
If you have the money for the 512 gb 15 mbp now... I say go for it, not only the extra 256gb you get but also the dedicated gpu and extra 0.3 ghz bump.

Any MBP made late-2013 and younger is not upgradable in any way except by cannibalizing parts from other MBPs. Consider it non-upgradeable.
