With the latest macOS Ventura 13.1 beta, Apple has added the ability for users to chime their AirTags using the Find My app on their Mac.

Previously, Mac users could only get directions to their AirTags through the Find My app, meaning those who wanted an audible chime to more easily locate their AirTag would have to go to the Find My app on iPhone and iPad. macOS Ventura 13.1 is expected to be released alongside iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 later this month. It brings support for an updated Home app architecture that improves performance for smart home devices and the new Freeform app.

Still not got any, and don't need any, although making a lost item chime seems to be an obvious feature that should have been there from the start?
They are super usefull for majority of users. Those kind of devices are usually controlled and searched with iPhone in hand, so no it was not needed but it is. Ice addition but 99,99999% of time users will search their items with iPhone not Mac.

😱 Can this feature be disable on the Mac? I don’t want to mistakenly chime the AirTag being used for stalking. 😏

I got an AirTag a week ago as a present, but still haven't had a chance to use it because Apple are too cheap to include a keyring in the box

It's not necessarily about being "too cheap", it's just that not everyone uses a key ring with their AirTag so why include something (and charge for it) that not everyone wants/needs? For similar reasons, Apple doesn't include screen protectors or cases with iPhones.

It was there from the start, just not on the Mac. But if this is something that triggers you, perhaps you should now get them just to make them chime?

It feels more and more that when Apple creates something new, it parses out the features over several OS X/IOS updates. As if they are trying to spread out reasons to for consumers to update their operating systems.

I have 4 - 3 are on key rings but the fourth is hidden inside our camper at a storage site. In case the camper ever got stolen, hopefully they won’t find the tag and we can track where the camper was taken.

Not every tag requires a key chain. And you can get key chains dirt cheap on Amazon.

Oh yea, this will definitely be a reason for people to break down and upgrade. Not.

Yet it still opens emails in bloody split screen when in a full screen app. And yes I've turned off this behaviour in the settings but IT STILL DOES IT

Make it stop Apple!

Part of the product design brief is to have a range of official accessories with 90% profit margins. These product ranges don't just happen by accident

I'm still waiting for family sharing of AirTag much more than any other AirTag feature.

Absolutely agree, I have airtags on carkeys etc assigned to my phone, but if they are with my wife she keeps having warnings, whilst she is fully aware they are with her...

Family groups should be able to see/use air tags. A huge headache in a house full of Apple users. We end up turning all notifications off.
This 100% not having Family Sharing is a huge pain.
