Latest MBA & big RAW files, Capture 1, external monitor?

I love my 15", but also wouldn't mind consolidating it and my iPad to a much smaller laptop. I'm curious of the MBA and whether it can handle big Nikon/Sony RAW files in C1 and run everything through an external...I feel the GPU might be lost on me as I don't do any video editing. In that case, maybe a 13" would be better (the non-Air version?) Any experience? Thanks!
