So, I've been running the PB of Mojave, and everything has been cool so far, but I don't seem to be able to get the latest beta. Any suggestions?

Is your hdd/ssd formatted HFS or APFS I formatted my hdd hfs no update available did a clean install formatted APFS then reinstalled Apple beta access utility and got the update I think APFS is going to be required moving forward with Mojave

yeah. I've downloaded DodDude1's patcher. that should take care of it.
OK. Only complementing: "It appears that APFS will be required to receive updates via Software Update, so sorting out the APFS Boot ROM issue is going to be imperative for machines that do not support APFS natively".

My machines support APFS, I just don't like the file system.

I, too, have discovered that if you have Mojave installed on an HFS+ volume, Software Update can't "find" new updates. (Using a 2012 Mini, I boot and run from external SSDs).

Mojave's new Software Update mechanism doesn't seem to be able to ascertain "where the Mac is, update-wise" if the drive is running under HFS+.
Seems to me that this formerly -worked- (in HFS), but "broke" a few betas ago.

What I have to do in order to upgrade my HFS+ Mojave boot drive:
1. Keep a SECOND "mule drive" in APFS
2. When an OS upgrade is released, "boot up the mule" and (running APFS) it WILL "find" and install the update.
3. Once the mule drive is all updated, I open CarbonCopyCloner and clone everything EXCEPT the users folder to my Mojave HFS+ SSD.
(I then put the mule drive away until it's "update time" again)

Yes, it's work, but... it "works for me".

Still not working... Now it says "You may not install to this volume because the computer is missing a firmware partition." I'm up to the 138 firmware.

[doublepost=1535069407][/doublepost]I moved the drive from the pice card to an internal bay, and it tells me that the drive isn't APFS, but now my Sierra drive can be installed on, where it couldn't before...

Yup with no problem. My 2010 cMP will run Mojave as long as you have a metal capable video card. I have no lags or slowdowns at all. I just sold the 2010 27" iMac and in the near future will be selling the 2007 iMac as well.
Was just curious because the PB will not install on my 2011 mini. I assume that's because of the gpu.

Well, after booting to the @dosdude1 patched installer, I was able to do an in-place upgrade. I've retained HFS+ and am on the latest beta.

Since my MacBook mid 2009 is unsupported and I am to nervous to run the APFS Rom Patcher also by dosdude1 a few have bricked their mac's I use the Mojave Patcher and you can download the current beta and created updated patcher and install over the current beta no issues since I am on HFS
