What ever happened to "Launch as Hidden"? I have always had apps launch in the background as I logged in... yet since Monterey/Ventura clicking the "x" or "cmd+w" has become the norm. I was hoping with Sonoma this would be fixed, nope. Why was this so simple but useful feature removed?

My Panther & Tiger running G3 & G4 have this

The "Launch as Hidden" feature was removed in macOS Monterey and Ventura because Apple wanted to simplify the user interface and make it more consistent. If you want to launch an app in the background, you can do so by using the Terminal or by creating a LaunchAgent file.
Thank you for your response, what is the terminal command?

I simply want my apps to launch in the background without downloading another software to do so (I already have many a software lingering, I'd like not to add another)... I understand Apple would like to make things supposedly easier for new audiences, but honestly, nothing costs more than hurting longtime users.
