Hi, is there anywhere that you can buy a launch day iPhone 5S in the UK - specifically Glasgow preferably, apart from the two Apple stores? I would be looking to buy it without a contract and I believe that carrier stores will only sell if you buy a contract from them at the same time. I ask because I would like to get my hands on one and assuming that the rumoured release date is 20th Sep I am working and could potentially make getting to and waiting in the q's in the Apple store problematic.

Order online it will be delivered on launch day, I do it every year. Only way to get a truly unlocked one is from Apple. CPW ones are unlocked at first but lock to the network of the first sim you put into them.

Ah I didn't know that online pre-orders were delivered on launch day, I presumed that they were posted on launch day so people wouldn't get them early. Thats great if its as you say, I will just order online and get it delivered to work.

Side note whats it like in terms of getting one ordered? Does the side usually stay up and on average is availability reasonable?
It has been getting better in recent years, a few years ago you could barely get the site to work. Don't leave it too late though, as what happens is the delivery dates start slipping from "on launch date" to to a couple of weeks out from it. Ordering at around 7-8am should be fine
Thing is with preordering, I guess it's easy enough if you are going to get a black or white 5S, but with the rumoured 'champagne' colour, wouldn't you want to hold one prior to pulling the trigger?
Pre-Ordering and then waiting for delivery in Glasgow should be fine if you want it on launch date, please bear in mind that for other areas of Scotland and the UK launch date is not always guaranteed, here is the map from last years iPhone 5 launch.
