Launchpad gone from dock

I recently installed the HP software for my scanner. When the system reboot the Launchpad icon was gone from my dock I opened Launchpad from the sidebar in Finder thinking it would put the icon back onto the dock and I could lock it back it in, but no. How do I get the icon back onto my dock?

Drag Launchpad from the /Applications in Finder to the dock.

Thx. That worked, but I've just discovered the superdrive open/close icon is gone from the menu bar, how to I get that back?

Navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/
Then double click on "Eject.menu"
