A friend of mine told me that a Screen Saver are no longer needed because the LCD screen can't have screen burn it.

Is this true? If so can you explain to me why?

Thanks! :)

Hugh

Something similar to burn-in is still possible and there's no reason why you wouldn't use a screensaver, they're nice, however just sleeping the display when your not using it is easy too.

Here is a photograph of my 20in Apple Cinema Display after a few hours of being left on the background.

The grey image is a solid grey fill.

It's annoying but not permanent. This is why I normally use a screen saver or set my screen to turn off after a few minutes.
