Hello,

First of all, I am new.

I first asked this question over at [H] forums but the only reply I got was to post it here. I am not familiar with Macs. I use Redhat/CentOS/Ubuntu and Win7 on a daily basis.

Intro:

We currently have a Ubuntu server running an ldap server in our lab. LDAP clients include Redhat computers, CentOS computer and Ubuntu machines. I am very unfamiliar with how that whole arrangement was initially setup but I am capable of retreiving information such as 'ssl is turned on' kinds of things from ldap.conf

We currently purchased a iMac and I would like to have it setup such that we can have LDAP authentication going on as that computer is used by many in the lab. It has Mac OS 10.7.3.

I have searched some and I find a lot of info about forcing binding, LDAP setup with Active Directory (not LDAP), and some that start off as "setup LDAP as you did in Snow Leopard...."

So, my question is, does anyone have a guide or a know-how on how I can get LDAP client authentication working. I have tried many a things from turning on and off ssl, to trying to figure out advertised information from our server. Whatever I try, I also get some error in the form of "could not establish a connection" sort of thing. Really don't think it is a firewall issue as I figured out how to set up LDAP on ubuntu 10.04 at home.

Thanks in advance.
