I just recently bought an iMac and it came with the leapord installation discs and i tried putting leapord on my macbook but it says it cant be installed on that computer..Any ideas why....the only thing that i can think of why i can not install it on that computer is because the installion discs are for an iMac and not for a macbook and thats why it isnt working but im not sure......any ideas on why it is doing this???

The restore discs that ship with computers are model specific.

Appears to be tied to product family. Just to test we've used a Leopard DVD that came with one MBP Pro on another even though it did not come with that specific machine (same chipset and GPU, I'll have to test if it would work on MBP with different hardware). It is definately not tied to that specific machine.

Cheers,

You have to go out and buy a retail copy of OS X Leopard. Or else you're stealing it.
