Learn Mandarin Chinese apps

My daughter is taking Chinese (Mandarin) and we're thinking some game apps that teach the language would be helpful to play/practice with over the summer before Chinese II. Anyone have any recommendations for iOS game apps for iPad or iPhone that are fun, comprehensive, and teach both characters and pinyin in Mandarin? App Store has plenty of available apps but not a lot of reviews. Thanks!

I don't know anything in the way of games, but I can tell you that Pleco is hands down the best dictionary. Extremely robust app, ability to add dictionaries, create and use flashcards, and even use the camera to capture and define images of text. I think the app to download is free, but add-ons cost extra.
