Is the band shown in the attached pic a leather loop or classic buckle? I can't quite make it out from the pic. I like the way the stainless steel contrasts with the black band.

It's the leather loop. The classic buckle connects differently to the watch.

Classic and modern buckle:

Your Image in a little bit better quality. Looks like the leather loop to me:

The leather loop is only available in 42mm so I'm guessing 38mm Classic or Modern Buckle.

Edit: after seeing the better image I agree it's the leather loop. Couldn't tell from the pixilated image in the OP.

I don't think it's either leather band. I think it's the link bracelet, 38mm. Remember, the link bracelet is not polished like the case, it's brushed, and so in a relatively low key photo like this, it's going to appear darker than the casing. Throw in the extra contrast and general low quality of images being evaluated and it's easy to see how it might look black when it's really just brushed metal in the shadows.

So yeah, I'm thinking 38mm SS with link bracelet.

Good point. You could very well be right. I originally didn't think it was a 42mm based on the woman's slender wrist.
