Leaving iphone unused

I just got a new iphone 3gs two days ago and this saturday I'm leaving my home for a music festival.. I really don't want to bring the iphone as there's a good chance it'll either break or disappear.. I'll get back 9 days later.. So i just wanted to know, what's the best way to leave the iphone battery, fully charged or fully drained as to not affect the battery life?

first dont bring it. second 9 days is nothing dont worry, its something like turn it on every 6months if your leaving it somewhere.

For any extended period of time (not sure 9 days qualify), leave the phone at 50%.
