Another controversy is erupting around "Chosen One" LeBron James for what by some accounts is more childish behavior, this time after a college player dunked on LeBron at his skills camp and Nike swooshed in to seize the tapes - possibly at James' behest.

James was playing in a pickup game at the Nike-run LeBron James Skills Academy in Akron, Ohio, when Xavier sophomore Jordan Crawford threw down a two-handed jam over the Cavaliers star - with cameras on the sidelines rolling.

Ryan Miller, a freelance cameraman working the camp, told CBSSports.com that James called over Nike Basketball senior director Lynn Merritt shortly after the dunk, and that minutes later his tapes were taken away.

"LeBron came over and told him something. ... LeBron said, 'Hey, Lynn, come here," Miller said. Merritt approached Miller shortly thereafter and "he just said, 'We have to take your tape," Miller said. "They took it from other guys, too."

A spokesman for the shoe behemoth said Nike confiscated the tapes only because cameramen violated the camp's policy by filming after hours.

Not sure I buy Nike's reasoning.

I've been following this pretty closely, and I've come to the decision I can no longer support Lebron or be a fan of his.

He's a fantastic player, and I watched him in person at a Clippers game in Los Angeles in his rookie year. He's amazing. He's physically dominating and has the basketball skill to back it up, but he has royally messed up his image this year. He's been an absolute baby.

1) Not shaking hands after he got eliminated in the playoffs and giving such a lame excuse for the lack of sportsmanship.

2) Wearing an "LBJ-MVP" shirt around town after he got eliminated. It's as if he needs to remind us he was the MVP in the wake up his team's failure to advance.

3) Wearing "Check my $tats" shirt around town. Yes, with the dollar sign instead of an "s". Yes, Lebron, we know, you have good stats and are very wealthy. Congrats.

4) This dunk video. Reeks of insecurity. You're not superhuman, you got dunked on. It's not a big deal. Guess what, it is now!

I agree that LeBron is a prick. He is talented and all but if you can't take the fact that you got dunked on stop playing basketball.

Heard a lot of talk about this on Colin Cowherd's show on ESPN radio

I thought it was funny :p

LBJ is much like I saw Kobe early on. I believe Kobe has grown up quite a bit and I attributed much of his sportsmanship or lack thereof to be because of his age and how quickly and seemingly easy it was for him to get where he got. However, LBJ just stinks of BS. The NBA does not need this guy, there are handfuls of high school and college players out there that can probably do what LBJ does with a better attitude.

Lebron has been marketed well for someone who has won nothing

Now it looks like he will be shut out of going to New York next year (salary cap restrictions and projections from the NBA). If that is the case, he will most likely stay in Cleveland. Hiring Shaq to come in and win a championship for "the King" is laughable to me.

Those cameramen are stupid. I would have laughed in the nike rep's face if they tried to take one of my tapes.

Maybe they received a handsome return. They are really stupid if they didn't. It may worth at least a six-figure now.

It may not have been that simple

Mac's right.

cameramen violated the camp's policy by filming after hours

By that statement, if they violated a rule, they cannot maintain ownership of the tapes. Its a great coincidence for Nike. Its their story and they're sticking to it.

Also, isn't Lebron that famous tennis player? How do you get dunked on in tennis?

You're joking, right?

Do you really need to ask that question? Do you read any of my posts?
I know he doesn't play tennis. He's that famous soccer player from Italy right? Oh how I love to watch him run across the field in all his majestic glory. He really is a great addition to the Italian team. They've got a real shot this year.

We're not talking about Luca Toni here haha..

But yea he's a little crybaby, but thats because he's young and spoiled by the league/media.

You don't think there is anyone who can match LBJ?
My guess is there is a tape proving otherwise. ;)

Haha. For one play :p

Even I can hit a jumper over a Division 1 NCAA player...

But in all seriousness, I don't think we'll ever see someone like LBJ. There's never been anyone like him in basketball before.

Umm yes.

And it has been mentioned above. MJ and as much as I don't care for Kobe ... Kobe.

LeBron needs to actually DO something (insert "ring" here)

MJ has them in abundance
So does Kobe

LeBron... not so much as a sniff

Wow.

That was one wrong statement.

Are you talking only Power Forwards? Even then, there's a lot of legends that are a LOT better than Bron Bron.

I've been following this pretty closely, and I've come to the decision I can no longer support Lebron or be a fan of his.

All of your reasons are good ones - but he lost me last fall when he was going on and on about becoming a free agent in 2010 (18 months into the future) and getting into a war of words with Charles Barkley about it.

He's a f*****g punk-a** crybaby.

Michael Jordan ring a bell?

MJ and as much as I don't care for Kobe ... Kobe.

Don't forget Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Julius Erving, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, George Mikan and many others...my, how quickly we forget.

I read a bunch of different reports about this "rule". I'm pretty sure it's ********.

If nike wasn't cool with taping, why didn't they say something for the 2+ hours they were playing the games and taping them? They only wait until after and then take the tapes?

If I was one of those camera men, there's no way in hell I'm giving up that tape.

On another note, until LeBron wins at least one ring, he shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as greats such as MJ, Bird, Russell, etc. And he's definitely not "the king". You can't be the king if you don't have any rings.
