I just got a Mac mini recently and I love it, but what's with Apple just loving to do stupid stuff with things that are not even important when they do work.

I have my Mac mini connected to an LG TV, so I can't select sleep from the menu, because it turns off the TV. (I do want and need to have HDMI-CEC turned on). What's so hard for them to just change color or keep the breathing light? so that people can actually tell if the computer is in sleep mode?

Who the hell thinks of these stupid stuff and who the hell green-lights them?

This is like the movie The Dictator, when he changes the word YES and NO and also POSITIVE and NEGATIVE to ALADEEN. Then there's a scene where someone is told he is HIV Aladeen. You would think that kind of "jokes" would stay in a movie, not be made by a trillion dollar company.

There are other stupid stuff from Apple like turning the MacBook on when pressing any button, preventing everyone from cleaning it. I agree with turning on the MacBook when opening the lid, but any button? That's just so stupid!

Why ruin an amazing products (MacBooks, Mac mini, Magic Mouse, etc) with such tiny details, but that affect in a great way?!

I understand this is not applicable to some users depending on their setup, but still is just baffling that Apple does this. Specially since it's extremely easy to fix.

I agree that the LED light staying on in sleep mode is a bad idea.

On the older Mini the light will pulsate when the Mini is sleeping, which confirms to the user that sleep mode is happening. There are occasions when the Mini isn’t able to properly go into sleep mode, and this is shown by the LED staying on, so that tells you something is preventing sleep, and you can usually figure it why sleep isn’t happening and you can take corrective action.

Now with the new Mini (recently bought) i have no visual confirmation that sleep mode is happening.

My policy with the new Mini might be to not use sleep mode, I will just do a shut down. It does a restart quickly so there is less need to use sleep mode.

I've been making tests to tell if the Mac is asleep, but I can't still be sure yet.

When changing inputs or going to the Home Screen of the LG TV, I notice that if the Mac mini wakes up, it automatically switches to its input. Also, if the Mac mini is asleep, if I switch to its input, there is no signal until it wakes up.

However, I don't know if accessing the Mac mini files from my iPad via file sharing (connect to server) does make it to wake up.

One other thing that I feel it confirms it is sleep, is that I have a time announcement each hour. However, I don't know if it still works when the Mac is locked. If it does, then it means that when the Mac mini is sleeping, then I don't get the announcement, however, if it stops working right when you lock the Mac, then it can't be used as an indicator that the Mac is in sleep mode.

All in all, it's just stupid how people need to do so many workarounds for something so basic and simple, but necessary and helpful.
