LED Glossy Screen Owners Survey

Hello all,

I've had 3 glossy screens so far and two have been unacceptable (the first computer was returned for another reason). We all know about flickering and yellow lower half or lower quadrant, but I'm interested to see if any glossy owners have other issues (for example the viewing angle being too narrow, or lighting being uneven), and I'm also interested to see if any owners are really happy .

If you have a glossy screen are you happy with it?

Well after reading this, I'm quite paranoid - I've just ordered a 15" 2.4 Glossy... I'm hoping you've just had a bad run of luck there...
 
Absolutely 100% thrilled with my 15.4" Glossy LED-backlit screen - maybe its just my imagination, but it seems miles ahead of the 17" on the 2.33 C2D MBP I had been using before this one...
 
Couldn't be happier. I have the Samsung Glossy in mine and I have no problems with it. I don't have the yellow tint issue at the bottom. The viewing angle does product a yellow tint all over the screen, but those are two seperate things. That does not bother me at all, because I never use the computer at that angle. Straight on it looks excellent.

I struggled with the matte or gloss debate when I bought mine. I am SO happy that I went with the glossy screen. IMHO it looks so much better than matte. My brother got glossy too. If I would have went with the matte and then seen his.... I would have been very disappointed. It is all personal preference though.

Very, very happy with my MBP SR Glossy!
 
I've had two glossy MBPs now, both were LG screens. The flicker was fixed with a software update. I haven't noticed any yellow tint on the bottom third. There's was some light leakage on both though (I didn't think that was possible with LED-lit screens, but apparently it is), but nothing mayor.

My only real complaint was the flicker, but that seems to be fixed now.

2.4 over here as well. Couldn't agree more. It seems like we are the only ones in love with the LED screen though :eek:
 
An observation:

This thread is overwhelmingly pro-glossy. Considering that other threads, which ask for an opinion between matte and glossy, all seem to have negative comments on the glossy screens.

My guess is that a large majority of people posting negatives about glossy screens don't actually have one and are just parroting previous negative comments. Those that actually do own a glossy seem to like them.

Glossy rules, I don't understand all the hating at all. I have to look so hard to tell if I have a yellowish tint that I can convince myself it's my imagination.:)
I'm keeping it plus I use an external 90% of the time for Pho%&*hop anyway.

Edit : Where exactly are you getting info on wether Samsung/LG??

whilst i agree, i think the answers you get here will be biased anyway due to the fact that if you have a matte screen why would visit a thread named "LED Glossy Screen Owners Survey"
 
I received my Macbook Pro yesterday. It is a 2,2 Ghz with 160 GB and glossy samsung screen.

The screen was absolutely amazing. No yellowing at the bottom, incredibly bright yet no backlight bleeding, no dead or live pixels. However, it did have a stain, a very small dark stain. I could not remove it with LCD cleaner, it must have been in the panel itself. So i have requested a replacement...

However, since the MBP was in every other respect perfect, I do hope my replacement doesn't have any issues... It didn't have a wiggle, it ran quite cool (+/- 40 degree celcius under light load), no static or hiss on the headphone, etc.
