I just read an article on this announcement. Beyond the obvious "about time," it's amazing to me just how long some bands have waited to make their songs available online. The writer of the article I read made a great point, one I hope the recording industry will get through its collective thick skull:

Given the efficiencies of digital distribution, it's hard to see a business case for refusing to sell online. It's not as if offering tracks for download will increase the possibility of piracy. If anything, giving people more opportunities to legally purchase music should lead to more sales....

That'll be awesome! I've been wanting to get "Going to California" without actually having to buy Zoso (I already have most of the songs on there). :D

every classic rock radio station in america playing it 2 times a day isn't doing it for you!?!

I personally believe that there were two reasons why we never saw the Led Zeppelin music on a legal music download until now:

1) There was fear most of the downloads will be the song "Stairway to Heaven" from Led Zeppelin IV, causing people to ignore most of the band's other music.

2) Full album sales on CD format was still quite profitable, so there was no financial incentive to offer digital downloads.

Its True!!

Under a series of new agreements expected to be announced today, the band will make its songs available first as ringtones and similar mobile features starting this week in an exclusive deal with Verizon Wireless. Digital downloads of songs from the band’s eight studio albums and other recordings are expected to be available through Verizon and digital-music services, including iTunes, on Nov. 13.

Yessssss Thank you God!
