I run Left 4 Dead on my unibody MBP 2.4, runs like a champ in bootcamp, I have yet to run it on a external monitor, but it runs great at native res.

how do you get it to work with the lid of the macbook pro closed?

Go to Nvidia controls, look for single monior output and select your external monitor.

For Macbooks with x1600, download hack drivers to do this. Regain ati catalyst and do the same thing.

You got it! It took a bit of researching but I ended up with the ATI Catalyst Control Center installed with the use of a Mod downloaded from: http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php All thing instructions are found on that site. I also had to install the driver that came with my external monitor and I shut off the "sleep when lid closed feature" in the Power Mangement control panel. I'm running Tiger still so I dont have any updated BootCamp drivers. But the ATI CCC does the job!

nice!!!!

how's it running???

what are the spec's on ur macbook pro??

i've been thinking about giving it a test run on my macbook unibody but i'm thinking i may need to bump up my ram a bit for it from 2 gb to 4 gb before hand

Runs like a charm. 2.16GHZ - 3GB RAM - 120GB HD - ATI X1600 128MB It should be fine but the RAM would definitely help a lot. I run the game at 1440x900 usually but i have run it at 1680x1050 and it runs pretty decent.

Man that's a nice setup, how big is your monitor? Looks like a great game.

It's a 22" AOC. Not bad for $169.99.

Love this game, playing on PC only though. Best co-op game to come along in quite some time.

Yea. Ive logged a good 25 hours in like 3 weeks now lol. I'm really not a gamer. The only other games I own are GTA San Andreas, Vice City, EA Sports Collection '07, and Stubbs the Zombie. Left 4 Dead is somethin else, *****'s amazing. I'm running XP on my MacBook Pro. Runs fine on it.

Do you feel like your gonna keep playing it for a while or will you stop after campaign? Also, have you tried online matches where you play a zombie?

Given that it's primarily a multiplayer game I don't think many would give up after campaign.

That's the great thing about this game, there is so much to build on. Valve gives unbelievable support to their gamers, and multiple patches/maps/add-ons are expected in the near future. The SDK will also be released, so there will be user generated content as well. On Youtube, someone has posted their build for the Dawn of the Dead map, check it out.

Playing as a zombie is fun, but a little out of whack right now. Only two campaigns are available (soon to change) and one difficulty level (Normal). It makes it pretty easy to kill the zombies unless you're on a team of morons.

For those of you thinking about getting the game, do it!

Yea it's an amazing game. So far I've havnt really tried out versus. Just been trying to master the campaigns. My user name is Ryan Paul incase y'all bump in to me on there. I'm watchin the dawn of the dead map video right now, looks sick. Are these maps useable now or do we have to wait? They need a Dawn '78 map too! lol
