I couldn't believe it when I drove all the way back there and someone had kept it safe for me! That was a scary 30 minutes of my life. Anyway, i was already thinking of not getting it back, but being able to come home and go through MobileMe to wipe out all my data. That peace of mind is worth the yearly cost.

Anyone else ever lost your iPhone and gotten it back?

I forgot my iphone in a cinema once. When I got is the theater I was texting and when I sat down I put the phone in the cup holder instead of my pocket. When the movie was done, I got up and left without my phone. It was only when I got home that I discovered that I left it there. So I used mobile me to see if it was still there at the cinema or if someone spotted and took it. It was still there so I sent a message to it and went to pick it up. I was lucky to find the head of security still there after they closed up and he went and got it for me.

i have lost it around the house a few times, and called it then eventually finding it.

but staff i know at the local gym have told be they find iPhone's all the time but they take it downstairs and leave it in the lost and found and wait for the person to come back and get it.

I left my on the roof on my car and drove away.

Minutes later I realized and stopped my car, only to not see it on my car roof.

I drove back to where I was parked and found it laying in the middle of the parking spot. Luckily there was no damage (I have one of those big bulky pure rubber covers) and worked fine until I upgraded tot he 3gs.

That was the closest I ever came to losing it and I was quite nervous, knowing if someone found it they were more than likely not going to hold it for me.

My pal left his in his coat pocket at the bar and went he went to the bathroom some jerk stole it from his coat pocket. And this guy decided to call every girl on my friends phone, including his girlfriend, who he was with. Anyway that guy got a free iphone and my pal never recovered it, but he told the guy off on the phone several times.

That really sucks for you pal, i think he should have told the authorities instantly when the other guy on the other side had not wanted to return the phone.

IDK how you guys lose your phone. Mine is almost permanently attached to me.:) I don't leave the table in Chipotle's to get a refill w/o taking it with me.

I used to think the same thing until it happened to me.

I was at the movies with the family. About 45 minutes from the end, I took my son to the restroom. I remember it vibrating on the hallway back into the theater (not the main hallway, the one actually from the door into that particular theater). I took a quick glance to see who it was from and put it back in my pocket.

The movie ends and we haven't even made it to the door back into the lobby when I realize it's not in my pocket. I can almost tell immediately when my wallet, keys or phone aren't there because I'm so used to them being there.

I go back to the row, no luck. I wait for there as the theater clears and even have the cleaning crew help me look. No dice. Called back later that day, it never showed up.

Either I dropped it in the hallway after the main door into that theater or I dropped it in our row. But either way, it wasn't found.

Aren't you special!

I have left my phone in the car, at the house or at work. I usually remember pretty quickly because I keep it in my shirt pocket. When I don't feel the weight I realize I left it somewhere. Lol.

Never anything too bad though :)

You sure are lucky... I didn't even leave my phone somewhere and it got stolen :(. I got gas, pulled up to the parking spot, left my car running with my iPhone in the seat (I KNOW I KNOW BUT STILL!!!) expecting to run in, hand them a $20 and run right back out. Well of course there were 3 people ahead of me... I come back to my car to find a lovely white and orange piece of plastic in my seat. Those suckers knew what they were doing!

At least they were kind enough to leave the SIM so I wouldn't have to get a new number

I had a friend of mine loose his in his own car for a week. It was left under a seat but still managed to get extremely hot from sitting out in the car. He had a Rubber case on it and by the time he found it the case had MELTED. the phone was dead (battery) but it works fine now and he is still using it today.

Mine NEVER leaves my pocket or hand though, so you wont hear me telling a story like this about my self :)

i just use my iTape to tape my iPhone on my hand to prevent these situations

You left it in the car, if I'm not missing something here.

Left in YOUR CAR is not the same as left at a grocery store, shop counter, or some other public place.

You should be able to leave things in YOUR CAR without someone stealing them. :)

Hey, I even have mine with me in the house. :D

Besides, leaving it in a car, where a thief can see it, is asking for trouble. I also hide my GPS.

left my at the Cajin Chicken place at the mall. I called back like half a day later. They ended up calling people on my address book to try to get it back to me. These guys were so nice. When i went to pick it up, they gave me a lecture not to leave iphones around because they are expensive.

Seriously they saved my neck. I make sure i go get food there every time i'm the area :)

Geez, Glad you got it back. I left mine in my (locked) car when I went in to the bookstore the other day, realized it two minutes later and was back out to get it. I have super dark tinted windows that no one can see into and an alarm, and I still don't feel safe leaving it in there. I keep it in my purse at all times when I am not at home, and my purse never leaves my side, not even when my husband is there to babysit it. Paranoid much? :D

Yup, I would say I'm exactly the same as yourself in that respect.

It's actually quite sad/worrying how reliant we become on these things ... :(:D

This morning I took a piss and my phone almost fell in the toilet.

Anyone else almost had a pee stained phone?

Yeah, you SHOULD be able to, but unfortunately you can't...

My iPhone is usually almost always on me. And if I remember when I go out I put a passlock on it.

Jeez I freak out if my iPhone isn't in the same room as me. Its like it controls me!! :D

I'm a little ocd over my iPhone. I never leave it anywhere it might get wet  and it is always with me. I understand it is replaceable and it is just a phone, I just do not want to spend the money to purchase a new one. :)

For me it's not the price of the phone, it's what a PITA it would be if my info got out (although I do have Notes locked, thanks to being jailbroken), having to change my mail password, and the fact someone would have all my contact info, which is creepy. And yes, I know I could set a lock password.
