What does apple do with all the last generation iPads iPhones etc...? Just thinking about it and wondered why they don't discount them and sell them or do they?
For the most part, I believe that they sell off one generation product before the next generation hits the shelves. One of the indications we have that new product is on the way is when an item goes out of stock at places like Best Buy and Apple's online store shows a longer than usual shipping delay. They might keep some stock on hand for dealing with warranty issues. To get a discount from Apple you can look at the refurbished items on the website. I think these are mostly items that were returned in a short time then cleaned up and reboxed.
Apple also has a "clearance" section in the Apple Store online.
Some old models are kept for replacements, these are usually phones/iPods. Some are retained and still manufactured, such as older models of the iPhone.
