I have been using my new iPad for a week now and the left side of the screen has a slight shade of pink suddenly when I was surfing on it last night.

I'm not sure if it's coincidental that the left side of the iPad is also the part that gives out heat.

Anyway, I'm trying to get it exchanged and I may not even get it due to some stupid policy between the Telco and service centre in Singapore but that's not the point.

I wanna know if I'm an isolated case. I tried to search a couple of times on google and have yet to find a similar problem on the new iPad.

My first iPad 3 had an overall uniform pinkish hue that was more noticeable when I had the brightness turned all the way down. At first I didn't notice it but the night I bought it, I started asking family "Does this look pink to you?" Sure enough, I got a yes - compared to my wife's iPad 3 and it was very reddish. But it was that way out of the box and stayed that way for the week that I owned it.

I took it to an Apple store a few nights ago and the Apple Genius verbally agreed : "Yeah this needs replaced, we have replacements, want an exchange?" Me: YES! And my replacement is PERFECT (compared to several iPad 2s, and coworker's iPad 3s).

Edit: The most common problem that people seem to have is "yellowing" or parts of the screen being yellow. From this forum: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1341622/ it looks like only a handful of people have the reddish/pinkish tints that I (and you) have.

The thing that is bothering me is the iPad was perfectly fine for a week and this pink shade just came out of nowhere and it only affects part of the screen.

No bumps, no drops or anything. I was surfing and suddenly i noticed one side of the screen was darker than the other half.

I may never get this exchanged unless I'm willing to part with my iPad for 2 weeks. It sucks not to have an official Apple Store in your country. The authorised service centres have crappy policies.

I am having the same problem with mine: the bottom right of the screen has a pinkish tinge which is very noticeable when I flip it upside down and it is on the upper left hand side. I don't know if this was a problem out of the box as I'm not very observant, but since I only really tipped it upside down today I think it probably was.

I think I'll give it a few weeks and if the problem still persists go and get it changed. It irritates me far too much now I've noticed it!

I'm reporting the same pinkish hue as Xanthos. I'm based in Singapore as well.
Mine was pink out of the box yesterday and initially i dismissed it thinking the problem would settle on its own but it hasn't...and the pink hue has grown!

My experience with it is fairly close to the one faced by BigMcGuire - visible out of the box and when the brightness is at 50% and below and on the left channel held in portrait mode. My wife's iPad 2 is perfect and so was my previous iPad 2.

Apple service centre here said that they know of blue or yellow tints but pink was new to them and will replace my iPad 3.

I don't find many people having the same pink tint issue - more the blue and yellow tint coloration variety.

Wow that may be the worse photos I've seen on here. Def return that one!

To answer the OP, I had pink issue on top third of my screen and mine actually slightly lessened over time but still remained after 2 weeks so I decided to exchange.

That seems odd that yours just started, maybe you noticed it more in different setting? If I was in dimmer light, it was still more noticeable.

How odd that it just started. I havent seen anyone with that issue. Maybe it was a reflection off something? If it goes away then I think you'll be ok. If it gets worse if take it back, just don't wait too long.

That is exactly what the 3 iPads I had were like. Each one have a varying amount of pink vs green hue, but it was very noticeable. But in my case, they were like that out of the box. It's disheartening to hear that yours just started doing it suddenly.

That is what my ipad3 (16gb 4g) looked like. I returned it and have not bought a replacement yet, hoping they will fix these issues.

I have this patch for the last 3 days,,,

Recently purchased this Ipad from US and now i am in INDIA...
the only option i have is to ship the product back....

Try not to notice it and just pretend it's perfect. Seems to work for a lot of people here.

This looks like quality control issues with the screen on Apple's part. I have one of the first iPad3 batches (bought it a week after release), and the screen is uniformly perfect. Go figure.

On the other hand, if the issue is minor and cosmetic, just try to ignore it. How often do you stare at a perfectly white screen anyway? :)
