So I just exchanged my 13" 2011 MBA for a new one due to some keyboard problems, and I just got home to restore the new one from a Time Machine backup.

So I plug in my 1TB external HDD into the left side (if you're facing the computer while using it). The "looking for Other Computers..." thing keeps on spinning and spinning. Nothing found. After a few other attempts, turning the drive off and on, unplugging then plugging it back in, ect., I decide to try putting it on the right-side port. it immediately worked.

Is my left side USB port broken? Anyone else have this problem?

Try using a number of other USB devices on the left side. If all other devices work, then it could have something to do with your device as opposed to the USB slot.

Just give the left side a chance with a USB mouse, a flash drive, and any other USB devices you have lying around. If everything else works, then you might not have a problem. If other things don't work... well... then obviously there's a problem.
