Hey guys. I'm getting a Nikon 50mm 1.4 for Christmas, and I also have a job, so I can save up £1,000 (The rest I want to spend on a FF body, and other none photography related stuff). What lenses would you buy with £1,000? I can stretch my budget a little bit. I was thinking of maybe buying a 24-70 2.8. But also, I have a fondness for Prime lenses. Any suggestions?

I'm into shooting a pretty wide range of subjects. Architecture, portraits etc.

The Nikon 50mm 1.4 should satisfy your fondness for a prime lens. 24-70 is a good lens for a FF camera, I'd look for something with more reach if it were me.

Right now it's a toss up between the 24-70 or some wide prime like the 20mm 2.8 and a good macro lens - I love the look of the Nikon 105mm 2.8.

You don't say what your current body is- if it needs AF-S lenses, then the selection is different than if it can AF with AF-D lenses.

AF-D: 25-70 or 28-70, 80-200, 300 EDIF
AI-S: 200 Micro
AF-S: Tamron 90mm SP/Di

I'm currently using a D40, but I have no problem using manual focus. Also, I'm saving up for the rumored D800.
