leo upgrade screwed my samba permissions

like the title says.....
what i tried,
i reapplied the permissions on the server
messed with masks on samba server
changed the uid on the linux server to match that of my mac (yes its the same user/pass as linux/samba machine)
tried changing uid/gid on mac, didnt go very well, reinstalled

so no i have to give user group rwx which is aggravating me. don't know where to go on this one.
currently the user/pass match on both machines with the same uid 501..if anyone knows, please do tell.

thanks, back to finishing my install
