I first had the blue screen problem. Fixed that, felt smug, now this.

Lost my Admin priviledges. Came back here, found the fix but am unable to solve it. Please help.

After I start up in single user, it runs thru all kinds of stuff (many lines of "family specific matching fails" which is disconcerting) It says the hard drive is OK. It says something about a socket being disconnected and ends the string with:

:/ root# (and the blinking cursor)

I'm afraid to type anything else because the directions don't say anything about that. I did type the whole /sbin/mount -uw thing but it just comes back to the
:/ root# prompt.

I know how freaky root mode is. What do I do? I have a bootable 10.4.10 external drive that has already save the day several times today. Can I make the fix from there? Please help asap. It seems I can do NOTHING without priviledges...
