Leopard Disk Space

I will be installing Leopard this week, and I was wondering how much disk space it uses after all is said and done. The Apple website said that nine gigs are required for installation, and I was wondering if the OS uses all of this after the install is done or if some of that space is temporary and needed just for the installation.
