The firmware password is really not very much of a theft deterrent. Why do you need it?

because i have anti-theft software installed on my mac... by making use of the firmware password it'll increase the likelyhood that they'll use the computer as-is - at least for a bit which can help aide recovery of the laptop. if i don't have firmware password enabled it means that reformatting is as easy as ABC...
