According to Appleinsider Leopard is still not GM. To be released by the 26th they have 15 days from today. That is really pushing it. I think it might be delayed until the 30th or 31st. It's not a friday but they are going to want to keep it an October release day. Just my opinion.

I want an announcement...I can't wait anymore.

hopefully we'll get a 2 week countdown on Apple's site tomorrow.

I've got a funny feeling that Apple will release Leopard by the end of the month but it won't ship until November. Semantics, yes, but that will buy Apple 2-3 weeks time yet still hold up to their promise of an October "release".

Well, by that logic, there is nothing that would stop them from shipping out a few new systems with Leopard and have a 2-3 week delivery for Retail boxes.

Then, they would just "plan" on releasing a 10.5.1 build VERY quickly.

This would allow them to get it out to market all the while continuing development in much the same way that they are with their ADC Testers... er... Developers.

I love these threads. Some people are so worried about OSX in October.

My prediction is that they released it over a week ago, but none of you looked hard enough.

more excited than worried......but will be let down if its delayed.....mainly b/c we don't want Apple to start acting like Microsoft....this is another way of seperating from them.......(even though we've already had 1 delay)

and i predict that your prediction is wrong :p

It will come out at the end of the month people, sheesh. If it doesn't, it wouldn't be delayed much longer. But it won't be delayed, so stop worrying.

It's going to be delayed again. That was the Top Secret feature Jobs was talking about...multiple embarrassment-inducing delays. Way to make fun of Microsoft about Vista delays, Jobs...not only was it classy, it couldn't possibly come back to bite you when your OS is approaching a year delayed...(it was originally announced as a late 06/early 07 release by Jobs at WWDC 2005. Late 06 could reasonably be seen as November 06.

If we get discs in our hands before November, I'd be shocked. I wouldn't be surprised if we get an announcement next Friday that it will be delayed until late November or something...which will then turn into December...I think (hope) we get Leopard by the end of the year, but wouldn't be shocked if it slipped past that...

I'd be willing to bet $5 that you're wrong. And bitter.

At least MS copies decent aspects of the OS.;)

A correction.benpatient was right.Sort of.

From MacWorld magazine 2005 : From the 2005 WWDC

“We’re not going to be focusing on it today, but we intend to release Leopard at the end of 2006 or early 2007, right about the time Microsoft expects to release Longhorn,” he said.

Keep in mind that was also where Jobs said Apple would transition to Intel processors. Then at the MWSF'06 he gave a specific date of April 2007.

yeah, but that wasn't official

I'd Rather Wait For All The Major Bugs To Be Eradicated Rather Than Get It Sooner

Although I'm looking forward to it as much as anyone in the Mac culture, I don't want to get it "on time" only to find it fraught with bugs that make it problematic to run. So if there are difficulties getting rid of the worst offenders, I have empathy for the authors of OS X 10.5.0 and am willing to cut them as much slack as they need to get the GM right rather than now. :)
