This has been bugging me beyond belief!
When i am in the finder my home folder name is ownerowner along with a few other things. IS THERE ANYWAY TO CHANGE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! any help will be appreciated. Thankyou:confused:

Generally, you should NEVER change the name of your home folder (also known as your short username). In fact, Leopard won't even allow you to.

See this discussion at Apple: Link

That just means you SET your login name as something that got shortened to that. You should've set it to, say, maybe your name or something.

And no, you can't change the name of your home folder without really mucking things up.

Actually, in Leopard, you can:

Goto System Preferences >> Accounts

Click the padlock and authenticate.

The right click any user...

Then choose "Advanced Options" from the popup menu...

From here you can modify your home directory's location and edit your short name

However there is a warning:

Changing these settings might damage this account so that you cannot log in using this account. You must restart your computer to use changes to these settings.

well this is a used macbook i got from ebay so i didnt really get to choose the names they used.

well it has a fresh install of leopard and i dont really feel like spending more money for something i already have

If you are really desperate you can always create a new user account. Move your important data over to it, and then delete the account you don't like the name of.
