My powerbook g4 has been crashing alot when it gets hot, but doesn't when i try to run disk repair. The fans still work since it pops on during WC3 and stuff, but crashes randomly sometimes.
I was reinstalling (clean install) but it keeps on freezing at 99%. In the end i put an ice pack on the bottom and it finished. But the promblem still exists.

Harddrive? Logic Board? RAM?

My vote goes towards the logic board. If this is the case don't pay to get it fixed, just replace the computer.

logic boards can fail due to heat?
ive had it go up to 63 and go back down, and it didnt crash.

No, I wasn't saying that it failed due to heat however your Mac may be overheating due to a failure of the logic board. There should be reason for you to have to place an icepack underneath your computer in order for it to run properly unless there's hardware failure.
