The hard drive in my 15 unibody Macbook Pro died. I've replaced it and now I'm trying to install Leopard. I can't seem to find the DVD that came with the laptop, so I'm using my retail copy of Leopard. I can't boot from the DVD. I can hold down option and select the DVD, but it just restarts the computer over and over again. After doing a bit of research I'm thinking it's because I can't use a retail copy on the laptop. Does anyone know of a work around for this? Is there a way to make an updated copy of Leopard using my retail disks similar to Windows slipstreaming?

AppleCare has a disc fulfillment process where you can request replacements. Expect to pay $16-$20 per disc, so anywhere from $32 to $40 for both the Mac OS disc and bundled applications disc. Have not heard of slipstreaming Mac OS discs but maybe someone else know for sure...
