Leopard Install Questions

1. Can I create a partition in my 500GB FW 400 drive and install Leopard there, as a bootable partition? Or does it need the full drive? I want to test before I upgrade.

2. Can I create a partition in the same drive once I've converted Leopard over to my main system for use with TimeMachine or do I need the whole drive?
