leopard installed - have to reauthorize iTunes?

So I've installed leopard (erase + install) which is great, apart from a few old apps not working (Photoshop and Fireworks).

BUT

now when i open iTunes it wants me to reauthorize my purchased music on my "new computer" - WTF ? is there any way around this ??? some of my songs are on their 4th re authorization (migrated from 10.3--> 10.4 --> 10.5 and from iBook to MBP).

Your MAC address didn't change so it shouldn't add to the number of machines that you've authorized.

I had to do that, too. Authorizing my "new machine" didn't increase the authorized machine count. I had 4 before, and I have 4 now. I don't know why they ask you to do that, but it doesn't apparently change anything at the iTMS. Don't worry, just go ahead and authorize it. If it does increase your count to 5, you can deauthorize your Tiger setup. It won't hurt anything.
