did anyone notice that in the leopard installer you can actually click on the airport icon in the menu bar and connect to your wireless? what on earth would you want to use the internets in the installer for?

I wondered the same thing.
That's completely possible but Leopard didn't ask to connect to the Apple servers to check for updates before installing or after installing.
the setup assistant asks for wireless settings after you install. this is occurs when youve booted to the HD. im talking about before you even install and your booted into the dvd with the installer UI theres an airport menu bar icon that isnt in the tiger installer UI. i was able to connect to my wireless from it.
