Leopard killed Apple Remote (or so it seems)

After installing Leopard on a friends MacBook, the apple remote no longer responds. I've tested the remote on my mac, and it works fine. The IR Sensor shows up in the USB window on system profiler. I've tried replacing AppleIRController.kext and resetting the PRAM, no luck. Any suggestions?

happened to me too. I just unpaired the remote in sys prefs and it worked again.
