Leopard Mail - no spinning circle when checking mail

In the new Leopard Mail, I don't get the little spinning circle next to the Inbox to show it's checking mail? Anyone else not seeing this in Leopard?

In Tiger the minute I hit Get Mail....I'd see the circle to let me know it's connecting and checking.

I do see the spinning circle next to sent while sending a message.
